6TH DECEMBER 2016
I’M POSTING EVERY DAY IN DECEMBER WITH THE LOW-DOWN ON MY DAY AND A PHOTO OF EACH
SILLY CUTE LITTLE CHRISTMAS THEMED DAD JOKE THAT APPEARS ON MY DAILY ADVENT CALENDAR DOORS!
Hiya! I actually made a start on Christmas shopping today! It’s a bit bitter sweet though, to be honest. There’s something I really wanted to get for someone but the specific style of thing I wanted to get is sold out e v e r y w h e r e. So, after much searching I just have to get the next best thing. Which is, the same thing but a different style. I’m being very vague, aren’t I? Can’t be too careful – the person I’m talking about may very well end up seeing this post.
I still have absolutely no idea what to get for my boyfriend, dad or brother. Although, I have actually already given my dad his ‘main’ gift. Which, funnily enough, is the first gift idea for this Christmas that I found. It’s funny because my dad is usually the person I leave until last and the person whose gift search causes the most stress. Here’s a little bit of background on my dad: he goes through collective fads. What I mean by that is, for as long as I can remember, he goes through phases of periods of time of being obsessed with doing/buying/collecting something. Here are a few examples:
- Tai Chi
- Glass art
- Meteorite pieces (he’s big on all stuff space, natural disaster and generally planet related)
- War medals
- And most recently, rings. As in, you know, the rings that go on your fingers.
So one day in like early November, I accidentally stumbled upon the most perfect gift for my dad. I was just having a breezy browse to see if anything would catch my eye that I could refer back to later, so as to get a head start on Christmas (haha, didn’t really happen did it?!) and I spot a ring. What’s so special about a ring?! You ask? Well, let me tell you, feisty one. It has what I can only describe as a shred of meteorite wrapped around the ring. It sounds weird right now, I know. It’s hard to explain.
Here’s a picture of it to give you a better idea:
See that pretty pattern type part? That’s the meteorite! It’s so beautiful, I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. Meteorite and a ring all in one, two of my dads current fave interests. Score! I thought. Although it took me two attempts of ordering a ring and sending it back to figure out the correct size, it was so so worth it in the end. I decided to give it to my dad as an early birthday (his birthday was yesterday, 5th December) and Christmas present. This was mostly down to the fact that I was so excited and impatient to give it to him, but also because I wanted to make sure it fits him. I couldn’t shake the feeling of regret I’d have if I gave it to him on Christmas day and it didn’t fit. I’d rather ruin the surprise early and figure something out sooner. It’s all good though; it fits perfectly and he loves it. You also get a little certificate thingy to certify the fact that the meteorite is actually real, which is a very interesting read. My dad decided to further test that himself though, by putting a magnet to the ring. Thank god it stuck.
But yeah, other than that, absolutely no clue was else to get Dad. The ring is rather pricey but I can’t not get him anything else whilst everyone else unwraps their gifts from me. What gifts, I do not know as I can’t think of any for my boyf or brother either. Why must men be such a pain to buy for?!
