Early Morning Musings

Top of the morning to ya peeps! It’s been a little while since I just sat and wrote whatever spiel comes to mind in the moment. How are ya? I’m thinking of having a little section at the start(ish) of every personal/about my day posts with all my ‘currently reading/watching/listening/feeling’ kinda bits titled. It’ll go a little something like this:

Currently watching: The OA. The O.C. The Vampire Diaries.

Currently reading: Zodiac by Romina Russell. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling.

Currently feeling: Content with a dash of discomfort from an ongoing chest infec!

What do you think? Personally, I would love if everyone did this. Hey, I’m nosy and constantly in need of new things to use for procrastination purposes so I could always use recommendations. Also, again, I’m nosy.

As I write this, the rest of my house is sound asleep. The house is so quiet that I’m certain my typing will wake someone up any moment – I’m quite sure you could hear a pin drop on the carpet at this rate. It never seizes to amaze me how at the end of the day, the most vibrant, energetic, brings-the-room-to-life type of people are no exception to the needs of slumber. All of that zest and appetite for endless socialisation and activity just kind of disappears for eight hours (if you’re lucky) a night.

I have no particular aim for this post… all I know is that I get a surge to write this time of morning; my favourite time of day, otherwise known as 5am. Also known as, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WAKE UP THAT EARLY, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?! Sorry for shouting… but I get that a lot. Forgive me. Anyways, why is it my favourite time? Well, inquisitive one,  I don’t really know. There’s something about the quiet. The way that the sun and moon begin to swap shifts. The way lots of TV channels have yet to start back up for the day (usually 6am). The way I can hear myself think with a freshly awoken, clear mind without the distractions of daily to-do or bedtime overthinking. The calm before the storm. Also, I mean, getting first dibs on breakfast before the rest of the house eats it all is definitely a perk. As I said before, it’s not a rare occasion for people to call me crazy for waking up at this time, especially on my on days off. Yet, if anything, waking up so early just gives me more time in the day to spend. It’s not often that my sleeping pattern is this in tune that I’m able to wake up at my perfect time, anyway. Well, today it is and I’m loving every second of it!

What are my plans for today? Look, I wake up early sometimes I didn’t say I’m the most productive person in the world. Get off my back!

Aka I’ll probs just watch trashy TV and eat my weight in rice krispies.

What’s your fave time of day? What are you currently reading/watching/feeling/anything-ing?! Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

~ Emma, the girl that had to eat a bowl of rice krispies before even completing this post. Hate to say I told ya so xo

  1. Hmm, as far as what am I watching, I just started watching a Korean drama called Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. It’s a romance drama about a female weightlifter and a guy collegiate swimmer. It’s a fluffy show so I like it. haha Oh and I love The O.C. hopefully you are enjoying it. 🙂

    1. I’m hearing so much about Korean music, film and TV lately! I have to delve into that, sounds like I’m missing out! Any recommendations? I love The O.C too haha, can’t believe I only have one season left to watch! Thanks for the comment 🙂

  2. dramafever.com has some subtitled asian dramas you can watch for free(they have ads). Its a legal site owned by Warner Brothers. ^_^ If you wanna check out some K-pop then BTS and Blackpink are two good starter groups. They are really popular at the moment. 😀
